    "Revenge on [my] downstairs neighbor"

r/pettyrevenge. Posted by u/MAC_357 ♫ 13 hours ago Revenge on my downstairs neighbor I got home Monday night at 10pm last week. Knew I only had 7 hours till I had to get up for work. Miserable. I had just gotten back from a trip out of state to say goodbye to my grandmother less than two days before.

And I come home to a passive condescending ass aggressive, note from our downstairs neighbors about noise. Everything from writing out the phrase "especially at night" five separate times in one note as if I can't read or understand. Also complained that my dog is "too loud when it gets excited." We live in a dog friendly building.

So on one of my super pretty thank you notes I basically k her with kindness and said "while we can't do much to make our 75lb dog any quieter, we do apologize for the noise we have been making and will be more mindful." I

then went on to explain exactly what I was coming home from when I found that note. Told her that while her note was understandable it was , and that it broke me entirely in that moment. Told her that you have to be mindful that you don't know what others are going through and that kindness is always the best starting point. Signed it with warm regards

forgetregret1day. Ooh I hope she chỗ on it. My note: Newsflash, lady - if you live in an apartment there will be noise since your neighbors are all alive. Either get the over it or move to 13 hr. ago a cemetery. I hear they're quite peaceful and quiet. xoxo (me). but I'm a that ETA: so sorry about your grandma. 135 like Reply Share

Pleasant_Studio9690 13 hr. ago I thought everyone knew the logical solution to your neighbor's 75 lb dog making too much noise on your ceiling is to politely ask if you can borrow their dog for play, belly rubs, and treats in your own apartment. Some people are just slow.

yabootpenguin. 12 hr. ago. edited 12 hr. ago Not to play devil's advocate, I do sympathize with the unfortunate timing of the note, but I live in the downstairs unit of a house that was converted into two apartments.

There's got to be next to zero insulation between the floors and no carpeting upstairs because it sounds like a war zone down here every time they so much as get up to use the bathroom. I understand that they are just living their lives and unlike the former meth head tenants who were evicted prior to this one, the noise stops at a normal time at night so I can sleep, so I don't say anything. But it does drive me up the wall, nothing drowns out the stomping footsteps (I know they likely aren't a

and I'm allergic to my noise canceling earbuds that were gifted to me for this purpose. I spend nearly all day out on my screened in porch which does not have a second floor because of it - even in winter with a space heater.

So I know we're in petty revenge here and this is probably not the best place to write this, but both apartments should try really hard to be quiet during the sleep hours of the other at the very least.

If this was a one time occurrence and you usually are pretty quiet but they wrote their note anyways, then yeah them. It also would have been much better if they brought it up to you in person since a note doesn't give you the opportunity to respond and for them to understand where you are coming from too.

A little tip: an area rug can do wonders! There are noise canceling mats you can put underneath it. If I were to talk to the upstairs about the noise I would offer to buy one. Then you and your puppers can live in peace and so can the downstairs.

Dadthrowaway1001 - 8 hr. ago There are measures you can reasonably take to keep your dog quieter. Living in a dog-friendly building doesn't mean your neighbours should have to listen to your untrained dog barking its head off because you never taught it not to go crazy every time it hears someone at the door or sees a bird flying past the window.

MAC_357 OP 4 hr. ago My dog does not bark. She mentioned that my dog gets too excited when people enter the apartment and his running to greet us is very loud.

dirtyburgers85 - 11 hr. ago From the limited information I'd say the neighbour has written you a polite letter asking you to keep the noise down, particularly at night. It seems you are justifying the noise rather than denying it by your mentioning of it being a 'dog friendly' building. They obviously didn't know of the circumstances you're dealing with. Using your grandmothers death as a tool to guilt someone is an odd choice.

lilpeep14008 hr. ago Omg the victim mindset of some people. If you have a pet cow you move into the downstairs apartment. "I can't do much to make our dog quiet" Get a rug?? Use a crate. Your dog needs a routine it shouldn't be climbing walls at night. You don't know what she's going through either... Be a considerate neighbor, the world doesn't revolve around you
